Dominic Toretto's 1970 Dodge Charger R/T in Fast Five represents the return of the franchise's most iconic muscle car. The car first appears during the dramatic prison bus rescue, where Brian O'Conner uses it to help free Dom, and later reappears in Rio de Janeiro as part of the crew's heist preparations. Unlike the supercharged Charger from the original The Fast and the Furious, the Fast Five version was rebuilt specifically for stunt work by legendary movie car coordinator Dennis McCarthy. The film car featured a GM crate V8 engine, Ford 9-inch rear axle, JAZ fuel cell, full roll cage, custom dashboard with AutoMeter gauges, Sidewinder shifter, Beard racing seats, and a CNC hydraulic drift brake, making it a purpose-built stunt machine rather than a traditional restoration. The specific screen-used vehicle was later retained by Universal, received a clean title, and was eventually displayed in a Missouri automotive museum.

Beyond its movie-specific modifications, the 1970 Charger itself is a muscle car legend. The real-world 1970 Charger R/T originally offered powerful Mopar engines such as the 440 Magnum V8 and the legendary 426 HEMI, helping establish the Charger as one of the most feared street machines of the era. In the Fast Saga, the Charger symbolizes Dom's connection to family and his father's racing legacy, making it far more than just transportation.
