Formula DRIFT
Formula DRIFT (FD), an American drifting series co-founded in 2003 by Jim Liaw and Ryan Sage as a sister company to Slipstream Global Marketing (who introduced D1 Grand Prix to the US), established North America's first official drifting championship, distinct from FIA formula racing. As of June 2024, Formula DRIFT features 84 licensed drivers in its PRO and PROSPEC classes competing in an eight-round championship across North American racetracks, where judging is based on line, angle, and style, not speed.
